Musicians in the Spotlight-Seven Years Out

This week’s musician spotlight takes us north a few miles, but still in the Cameron area, to Bethany, the current home of the band Seven Years Out. We chatted with their lead vocalist, Patrick McGuire, who told us that Seven Years Out is a five-piece Post Grunge group, featuring heavy guitar riffs, soaring vocals, and lots of energy.

Their present lineup is Patrick McGuire, vocals and guitar; August Pittsenbarger, lead guitar, vocals; Heath Deskins, guitar; Spencer Oliver, bass; and Sam Evans, percussion. The band has existed for a number of years now, releasing a 4-song EP in 2014, and a full-length recording called “Animus” in August of 2019. They have toured in the Midwest with other regional bands and have their eyes set on the global music scene.

They got their start by playing cover tunes from bands such as Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, Audio Slave, Tool, Alice in Chains, and others. Then they worked up original compositions, performed them, and eventually recorded their songs and are selling them. Their album “Animus” is available for purchase on Spotify, Napster, iTunes, Amazon, and other platforms.
