Gardening: The Slowest of the Performing Arts
For the last several years, the Cameron Area Arts Council has highlighted some of the local gardens and gardeners in Cameron. We skipped last year because of the drought, but gardens are back in full force this year, and we want to recognize them.
The first garden featured this year belongs to Reta on Orange Street (she wanted to feature the garden and not herself). Although small, this garden is adorable with its white gravel, ornamental glass, and a fun collection of statuary including the Three Little Pigs and an armadillo. More statuary is interspersed with red mulch and purple flowers. Reta says she got started in gardening because she enjoyed pretty flowers. Her daughter helps her now, as she has gotten older, but she is still visibly pleased with her garden. Her advice to other gardeners is «to work outside as much as you can and enjoy life.» Thank you, Reta, for brightening your corner of the world!
