Lady Dragons still looking for first win after Maryville shutout
The Cameron High School Lady Dragon Soccer Team continues searching for their first victory of 2021 after falling to Maryville 5-0 last Thursday.
Although giving up four goals in the first half, the Lady Dragons held the Lady Spoofhounds to a single score - coming on a short-range free-kick - in the second half, which sophomore forward Amelia Welch said is not uncharacteristic of this year's team.
"In the first half, we come in and don't know how they play. In the second half, we were able to pick things up - identify how they move and where their good players are, where they pass and how they pass," Welch said. "We were able to break it down a lot easier once we are confident and able to talk to each other during halftime ... I'm proud of my team. We've really improved in the past month-and-a-half. We've come very far."
