Lights Cameron Action garners second place at Battle of the Best
Lights Cameron Action, the Cameron High School show choir, traveled to Pleasant Hill on Jan. 23 to compete at the Battle of the Best. The festival featured over 30 choirs from Class 1A to 5A. The show choir took the stage at 4:10 p.m. and performed for adjudication before participating in a live clinic. The ensemble won second place in the Class 1A/2A/3A division, edging out the Carrollton 9th Street Singers and falling to Atchison Adrenaline of Kansas. The group narrowly missed qualifying for finals out of their venue behind Adrenaline and the Rock Bridge (Columbia) girl's show choir Satin and Lace, who went on to place fourth and second overall respectively.
Lights Cameron Action previously placed first in their division, won Best Choreography and scored highest overall at the State Fair Community College show choir festival, and will travel to Carthage on Feb. 27 to close out their season. They will also host the inaugural Cameron Show Choir Festival on Saturday, Feb. 6, featuring ensembles from Platte County, Battle (Columbia), Carrollton, Chillicothe, Savannah, Atchison and Lamar. Public admission costs $5 and includes admission to both the preliminary and final rounds of performance.
