Changing of the Guard
A quorum of the Cameron City Council met in special session on Monday, April 8. The purpose of the special session was to officially recognize the municipal election results. According to the official certified results 896 votes were received during the municipal election. Julie Ausmus received 529 votes and John R. Feighert III received 367 votes. Councilman Feighert was thanked wholeheartedly for his service to the community and given a plaque to commemorate his service. Mr. Feighert said that he would still be active in many of the community development initiatives planned for the future.
Julie Ausmus was sworn in as a City Councilwoman by City Clerk Shellie Blades. Councilwoman Ausmus reiterated her goal of decreasing the divide in the community and emphasized that she alone cannot do much but that both sides must work with each other and in whatever ways possible to make true progress.
Mayor Darlene Breckenridge was re-instated as Mayor and Councilwoman Becky Curtis was selected as Mayor Pro Tem.
