Festival of Sharing kicks off with collections drive

The Festival of Sharing is gearing up for the 2019 drive to address hunger and poverty in Missouri and throughout the world.

Cameron is one of only 7 Sharefest locations in the state of Missouri, representing the Northwest Region of the State. The date for Cameron is September 12th, with collection and packing of donations taking place at the Cameron United Methodist Church. Many different denominations participate in this event.

While designated food items are collected, many requested items are designed to provide supplies not readily available. These items include paper good (toilet tissue, paper towels, and facial tissue). There are also personal hygiene items, student dental packs, baby bundle packs, blankets, youth packs, reading & writing packs, backpacks and more.

The first phase, beginning immediately, includes the collection and donation of specially needed products. A visit to www.festivalofsharing.org will provide a list of needed items. All churches and private individuals are welcome to participate. Products can be delivered to the United Methodist Church in Cameron. On September 12th, volunteers will gather to pack items for distribution.

The packs are distributed to a variety of certified agencies throughout the state of Missouri, with most collected in Cameron distributed the Northwest region.

A top cash fundraiser for Festival of Sharing is the annual quilt auction. Many new quilts are being donated from all across the state and will be auctioned. This year’s quilt event will be in Columbia, MO at the Knights of Columbus hall at 2525 North Stadium Drive. Questions?
