Fight Back: area women learn self-defense from Cameron PD, DSCO
The Cameron Police Department and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office teamed for a self-defense class Saturday morning, teaching nine area women vital lessons on survival.
Cameron Police Officer Devin White and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Kasey Keesaman spend four hours with students, teaching them lessons on situational awareness, counter for fending off an attacker and lastly testing their newly gained knowledge in a one-on-one scenario against White.
“The Cameron Police Department had asked us. They knew I did martial arts and Devin, of course, is with the police department,” Keesaman said. “We’ve worked together. We went to class together and we teach together. We’re on the same page as far as our training thing so it made sense come together for it.”
