Sloan and Clark elected, taxes pass - April 6

With over a hundred votes between L. Corey Sloan and the other candidates, Sloan won the first of two seats on the Cameron City Council with 540 total votes. It was a close race for the second seat between current Council member Dennis M. Clark and current Mayor Jerri Ann Eddins, with a total of only 37 votes separating them. Clark retains his seat on the Council with the total vote of 437. 

Tuesday evening the candidates were  notified by City Clerk Barbara O’Connor of their wins. 

Sloan said, “I want to thank all the Cameron voters for their support and confidence during my campaign. I look forward to serving my hometown once again and engaging our whole community like I did when I was chief of police about four years ago and having an opportunity to make a difference.”

Clark said, “I want to thank everyone that supported me, had confidence in me and I will do my best to do a good job for the community.”

The Cameron School Board has three seats open and those seats will go to Richard Campbell with 885 votes, Julie Mallen with 833 and Mary Tyrrell with 687. 

The countywide question on the ballot for the renewal of of the county wide Capital Improvement sales tax of one-half of one percent for bridge construction and maintenance within Clinton County was passed with 1,316 votes in favor. 

The Cameron Special Road District measure on the ballot to continue the additional rate of thirty-five cents on the hundred dollar valuation for four years passed with 541 votes.
