“A Night to Sparkle”

 

The Cameron ELKS Lodge #2615 held it's first annual Special Prom on Saturday, May 21. There were 121 Special Needs Attendees and 40 staff members to assist them.  The attendees were from St. Joe, Maryville, Albany, Trenton, Maysville, Osborn but most of them were from Cameron and the local group homes.

Everyone came dressed up and ready to have fun. The Groups were seated together after check in and dinner consisting of Ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans, roll and lemonade was served by the Cheerleaders and Pom Squad upon arrival. The girls then served cake to everyone then bussed the tables as they finished.  The Prom King and Queen were drawn from raffle tickets received at check in. The Prom King was Kenny Nalle  from Cameron and the Prom Queen was Denice Cobb from Cameron. After the royalty was chosen, the music started and the dancing began. They danced with each other, with the Pom and Cheer girls, their staff and members of the lodge. Everyone had a great time. 

Each Attendee was given a cup with candy and a $5 gift card. We were able to purchase everyone a gift card thanks to Amy Ford and Alliance Shippers, Inc. Their employees raised $365 to help by over 70 of the gift cards. The lodge purchased the rest.

Among the help was several Elk members, their family members along with members of the CHS Pom Squad and the CHS Cheer Squad. Members of the CHS CHEER squad; Madisyn Riley, Hannah Cline, Aly Yates, Mattie Ramsey, Margaret Dice, and Lauren McBee. The Cameron ELKS Lodge wishes to thank everyone who was involved with this event.
