Bench wins logo contest
The Cameron Municipal Band held a logo design contest for their upcoming music festival scheduled for late June. The contest was held from February 20 to March 7.
“The logo needed to have three things,” said Gina Reed, council president. “It needed to be red, white and blue, feature the Price Pavilion, and it needed to say 150 years to honor our anniversary.”
Logos were designed based on how it would portray the organization. Several entries were submitted, but one stood out from the rest. Heidi Bench was announced as the winner of the contest on Tuesday, April 12.
“I was shocked and excited,” said Bench. “I don’t always enter contests. I studied graphic design in college, but now I’m in real estate.”
Bench said she has been an artist her whole life, although it is not something she openly discusses. When the requirements were released, she had a vision of what her logo would look like.
“I thought it would be cool to have the flag as a horizon line, exploding out at you,” Bench said about her design concept. “I also wanted to honor the 150 years by combining old and modern types.”
The logo will be used for all publicity, flyers, printed programs and other campaign material created for the music festival, starting on June 30.
