Mayor Jerri Ann Eddins presented the Arbor Day proclamation to Drew Bontrager. The city will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday April 29.

City Manager Mark Gaugh shared information on the recognition of city employees. Mike O’Donnell, for his 30 years of service on the Fire Department and Joe Whitaker as the Operator of the Year. Gaugh also spoke about a mechanical failure at one of the wastewater lift stations, saying, “There was a lot of work involved… hats off to those guys!”

The St. Joseph area Community Action Partnership applied for the Smart Start Initiative Program grant in an attempt to bring a head-start program to Cameron. 

Gaugh said the crew working the Lathrop street area projects and pedestrian access project will begin moving the necessary equipment April 25– ahead of the initial projected start date.

In regards to the parking lot at the Old School, Gaugh said any work done is going to be a “fairly expensive endeavor”, and they are looking into several options to find funding. T

The update on the downtown mural project was the artist hopes to begin on April 25 – ahead of the original schedule.

The board passed a contract with the Cameron Municipal Band and a bill for new electric rates.
