Cameron man seriously injured in wreck

A Cameron resident suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident in Daviess County Tuesday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 44-year-old Clay A. Porter was transported by NTA Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

The patrol reports the accident occurred at 9:45 a.m. on Highway 13, about one mile south of Coffey. Porter was driving a 1997 Ford Escort northbound when the car drifted off the east side of the road and Porter overcorrected. The car returned to the road, skidded across the highway and went off the west side, striking a ditch, and then overturning, coming to rest on its wheels in the middle of the highway. Porter, who was not wearing a safety device, was partially ejected.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.

Porter was arrested by the patrol for careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, operating a vehicle without a valid license, no proof of insurance, no seat belt, and driving while intoxicated.
