Community shows support for Police Department
On Tuesday July 19, it is estimated that somewhere in the number of 200 people from Cameron and the surrounding communities gathered at the Cameron Fire Station to show their support and pray for the city’s Police and Emergency Services (EMS) crews.
People continued to arrive even after the prayer service had begun.
Dave Nixdorf began the prayer service by asking for a moment of silence for tragic events happening in the world. He continued then with prayer, asking for the Police and EMS crews to know that the community was there to stand behind them, in front of them and beside them as they went about their duties to serve and protect.
Others stepped up to pray for the Police and EMS crews.
One gentlemen stepped up and before praying, expressed his gratitude to the emergency workers, stating last year they had saved his life and he would not be here now was it not for them.
Others stepped up and thanked the Police and EMS for their willingness to do a thankless job. Many prayed for healing in our nation, offered prayers for the officers and their families and offered a prayer for hope that when they encountered the community citizens they would be greeted with support and thanks, even when they encountered the citizens in the course of their duties.
At the end of the prayer vigil, Police Chief Rick Bashor stepped forward and thanked the community for coming and for their continued support of the Police Department and the EMS crews.
