Traffic on the 36 Highway bridge became head to head as of Monday, August 22.

Construction projects under way all over the city

Orange cones and construction work can be seen all over town in Cameron, with more construction projects yet to start. MoDot has begun work on the bridge on 36 Highway. Traffic is head to head on the north bridge as of Monday August 22 as the south bridge deck is replaced. No left turns are allowed from either side of the bridge, with northbound traffic making u-turns at the stop light and south bound traffic being rerouted across the Highway 69 bridge. Once the south bridge deck is replaced, work will begin on the south bridge. Construction is expected to last well into November.

Work on the sidewalk over the Highway 69 bridge continues with much of the concrete having been poured on the east side of Walnut.

City crews are hard at work with contractors installing curb and gutter on many streets in Cameron, including work being done on Lathrop to help with storm water displacement. More projects are planned as weather and money allow.

The south Casey’s on BB highway is fully under way with their installation of a new driveway onto Walnut Street. When construction is complete, they will close the current west driveway and open the new driveway.

Other construction projects planned, beginning work soon, include a large expansion to the Shell station at 36 Highway and Bob Griffin Road. There are plans to create more parking space, to expand the building and to add a Dunkin Donuts and a Manchu Wok.
