CPD Taking Back Unwanted Prescription Drugs September 26
On Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Cameron Police Department will participate in the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The purpose of this effort is to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
You may bring your pills for disposal to the front lobby of the Cameron Police Department at 101 North Chestnut in Cameron between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 26. They cannot accept syringes, needles, or sharps. The service is free and anonymous; no questions asked.
The Cameron Police Department, City of Cameron Water District, Clinton County Public Water Supply District #3, and Cameron Regional Medical Center sponsor the event.
This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse, as well as accidental poisonings and overdoses. Common methods for disposing of unused medicines such as flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash pose potential safety and health hazards.
