Light the Night

The Cameron Area Chamber of Commerce ushered in the holiday season with the Holiday Lighting Ceremony and 29th annual Christmas Parade Saturday, November 28.

This year’s theme was “Light the Night” as the chamber sponsored a nighttime parade from downtown Cameron to Recreation Park.

The Holiday Lighting Ceremony was held at McCorkle Park and Trevor Perry of Osborn was chosen to turn on the lights at the park.

Cameron Newspapers served hot chocolate with marshmallows and members of the Cameron Police Dept., Cameron Fire Dept. and the Cameron Ambulance District filled the newspaper delivery van with non-perishable food items for the Cameron Food Pantry as well as made a cash donation to the food pantry.

The Cameron High School choir sang Christmas songs prior to the lights being turned on.

Following the parade, Santa and Mrs. Claus greeted children at a shelter house in Recreation Park.

The Cameron High School Marching Band played Christmas music and the chamber set up fire pits on the driveway through the park for those who wanted to roast marshmallows or make S’mores.
