'Tis the season to “BOO”

It happens in neighborhoods across the country, and Cameron is no exception. One cool October night, your doorbell rings. You open the door and discover no one is there. However, SOMETHING is there...on the porch. Upon further investigation, you realize you've been BOOed by the Halloween Phantom!

BOOing has been become a friendly tradition among children in the Cameron community. Lisa, age 11, looks forward to booing each Halloween season. “I'm going to BOO a lot of my friends this year. I love dressing up like a ninja, leaving candy, and hiding to see what they do,” said Lisa.

The phantom usually leaves a small sack of treats, two copies of a ghost or pumpkin, and two copies of instructions. One copy of the ghost should be posted to let others know you've been BOOed. The other copy and one instruction sheet is included in the treat sack of the next person who will be BOOed.

“Goodies” may include just about anything. Candy, stickers, small toys, juice boxes, roll-ups, and Little Debbie snacks are some examples. Homemade treats are discouraged as recipients may not accept them without knowing who made them.

The BOOing movement has gained momentum every year, and is a simple, fun way for children to celebrate a community.

A variety of BOOing printables are available on the Internet.

It's time! Remember, wait until dark, make sure someone is home, ring the doorbell, and RUN!!!
