Truck driver injured by falling ice
The driver of a tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries when the windshield of his truck was damaged after being hit by falling ice Wednesday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 53-year-old James Van Houtan of Gardner, Kansas was transported by Cameron Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The patrol reports Van Houtan was driving a 2011 Freightliner southbound on Interstate 35 under the overpass at Route BB around the same time a Missouri Department of Transportation truck was plowing the snow on the overpass and a large chunk of ice fell off the overpass and struck and broke the windshield. Van Houtan drove the tractor-trailer to a controlled stop on the shoulder of the highway.
The accident occurred just after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
