Two Inadequate Words

Dear fellow NW Missourians,

11/11 is Veteran’s Day in America – a day that we allow our minds to remember how lucky we are to have had so many brave men and women serve, often fight, and sometimes die, so that we could be and remain free.  When I picture a veteran, I think of the three young American servicemen who recently stopped a terrorist attack on a train in France, or the veteran who took fire while resisting an armed shooter on the Umpqua college campus in Oregon.  I think of my uncle who died in a firefight battling Nazi troops in Europe, or the thousands of brave men and women who do their patriotic duty each day for us in Afghanistan and around the world.  To those wonderful servicemen and women, we say two words that are inadequate to fully express the gratitude we feel or the debt that we owe - Thank you.

Through my contacts at the capitol, I was able to prepare and have begun to distribute a resource guide for our local veterans.  It contains contact info and benefit descriptions for veteran issues, such as the VA, post-service education and employment, memorials and museums, veterans’ homes, and more.  These have been distributed to many of the post offices around the district.  Quantities were limited, but I have a few left.  If you have not received one and would like one, please contact my office and I’ll see if I can get you a remaining copy.

If you have any questions or concerns relating to legislation or any issue regarding state government please do not hesitate to contact my office at J.Eggleston@house.mo.gov or call 573-751-4285. The mailing address is 201 West Capitol Avenue, Room 406B.

Until next time, best wishes and good health to you and your family,
