Winston School board sets tax levy

The Winston R-VI School Board set the total tax rate $3.09 per $100 assessed value during their board meeting Monday evening. This represents an operating tax levy at $3.000 per $100 assessed value and a debt service levy of $0.09 per $100 assessed.

The board gave preliminary approval of an Eagle Scout Project proposal by Craig and Jacob Lewis to construct a track long jump runway and sand pit.

The board approved the Missouri Department of Education’s Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Model Compliance Plan.

The board reviewed Request for Qualifications for bond underwriting services. The board will interview two firms, George K. Baum & Company and LJ Hart & Company, at their September board meeting for the purpose of selecting a firm for future financial advisement purposes.

The board approved School Board Policy and Regulation updates as recommended by the Missouri Consultants for Education, the board’s policy service.

In Executive Session the board approved teachers Abigail Yohn and Linda Littrell as National Honor Society sponsors and hired Mary Sullenger as a part time Title I Preschool Paraprofessional

Auditor Kevin Hudson has completed the Annual School Audit. Preliminary findings were that the district was in full compliance with all state and federal regulations. He will return the full audit report this fall.
