Barbara J. Dunaway 1926-2017

Carthage - Barbara Jeanne Dunaway, 90, died Dec. 20, 2017, following a long illness.

Born Dec. 28, 1926 in Auburn, Ind., to Louie L. and Gertrude (Reeder) Smart, she was a retired home daycare provider.

She was a 1944 graduate of Cameron High School and married Junior L. Dunaway in Cameron on May 2, 1953. They owned and operated Corner Grocery until his death in 1981.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Richard L. Smart and Jack W. Smart.

Survivors include her son, Richard Dunaway and wife Pamela, Sarcoxie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and many young adults whose lives she impacted as a daycare provider.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Burial: Cameron Memory Gardens.
