Bernard Henry Silver 1931-2018

 

Hamilton - Bernard Henry Silver, 86, passed away on February 6, 2018, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home, Hamilton. Ben had previously lived in Cameron.

Bernard was born on May 15, 1931, in Loup City, Neb., to Henry and Barbara (Ruschynialski) Silver. He honorably served his country in the Navy during the Korean War, serving from 1951 – 1954. He worked as a metal fabricator for Kenworth – Dart in Kansas City.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hamilton, and was a very active and lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus.

Bernard married LaVonne Leibfried on September 14, 1957, in Sherburn, Minn. She preceded him in death in 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Helen, in 2004, and four brothers: Everest, Gerald, Father Lawrence, and Francis.

Survivors include children: Giles (Kathy) Silver, Warrensburg, Angela (Robin) Ellis, Hamilton, Andrew Silver, San Diego, Calif., Nicholas (Judy) Silver, Hamilton, Jason (Pam) Silver, Platte City, Nathan (Terri) Silver, Maysville and Monica (Jerry) Reeds, Marceline; sister Marie (Larry) Gilkeson, Blue Springs; three step-children Tom and Donald Maenhoudt and Shirley Gueltzau; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hamilton.

Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m., Friday, one hour prior to the service, at the church.

Interment will be held at St. Munchin Catholic Cemetery, Cameron.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hamilton.
