Dennis Nelson Filley 1948 – 2015

HOT SPRINGS VALLEY, ARKANSAS - Dennis Nelson Filley, age 67, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away December 6, 2015. He was born on August 12, 1948, to the late Virgil Filley and Eileen (Nelson) Filley, formerly of Cameron, Missouri. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1966 and married Darlene Boulton in Hamilton, Missouri in 1969.

Dennis possessed an impeccable work ethic throughout his life and made many friends. He retired in 2010 from the Nazarene Publishing House.

He was an avid “street rod” enthusiast, and enjoyed collecting automobile memorabilia and antique toys. Dennis and his tight-knit group of friends enjoyed talking about cars. He enjoyed many types of sports and playing golf. It is widely believed that his children’s view of God is influenced by the model of their earthly dad. Dennis certainly provided that model of love, wisdom, compassion and love of life for all.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 46 years, Darlene G. Filley of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; daughters, Kristin (Jeff) Coulson of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Heather (Brian) Hunt of Franklin, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Shelby and Lydia Coulson, and Devin and Garrett Hunt; brother, Gary Filley; sister, Donna Offutt; sisters and brother-in law, Deanna and Ray Hicklin of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Barbara Baker of Olathe, Kansas, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held on December 19, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Church of the Nazarene, in Cameron, Missouri with Pastor David Garrison and Pastor Charles Christian officiating.
