Gladys (Scurlock) Bray 1915 - 2015

CAMERON - Gladys Irene (Scurlock) Bray, age 100, was born September 24, 1915 in Maysville, Mo. the daughter of Joshua I. and Mary Elizabeth (Bradford) Scurlock and passed away December 18, 2015 at a health care facility in Cameron, Mo. 

Gladys graduated from Maysville High School and married Phillip Bray on April 2, 1938 in Gallatin, Mo. They were married for almost 70 years when Phillip passed away in 2008. 

She was employed by Cameron Mutual Insurance Co. for many years before her retirement.  She served as a 4-H Leader and belonged to the local extension club.  She was member of Christian Chapel Church. Gladys and Phillip lived in the same house their entire married life until 2005 when they moved to The Village Healthcare facility in Cameron. 

She was preceded in death by five brothers; Lyonel, Orlan, Ulvan, Ovid and Nelson Scurlock and two sisters Toleta Austin and Mildred Thomas.

She is survived by her children Loyd (Lori) Bray, Kenneth (Margaret) Bray, Cameron, Mo. and Ruth Ann (Michael) Rooney, Liberty, Mo.; grandchildren, Terri (Tim) Jermain, Diana (Kirk) DeHart, Kellie Bray, Kristie (Ryan) Larson, Brad (Minnie) Bray, Mark (Jaye) Rooney, Kim (Paul) Hagelstein, 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Bram-Turner Funeral Home of Maysville with burial in Wamsley Cemetery, Cameron, Mo. Visitation: one hour prior to service time.
