Helen L. Volkart Acosta 1927 – 2015
LEE’S SUMMIT - Helen L. Volkart Acosta, 1927-2015, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away at home surrounded by her loving family October 23, 2015.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Christopher G. Volkart and mother Adelaide Brady Volkart, brothers Kenneth Volkart, Larry Volkart, Harry Volkart, and stepbrother Bluford DuVall, infant daughter Anna Marie Acosta and beloved husbands, Claude M. Acosta, and Glenn F. McClure.
Helen is survived by her daughters: Cecilia (Larry) Rittenhouse, Cameron, Mo., Mary (Don) Davis, Jefferson City, Mo., Betty (Ken) McNiff, Prescott, Wisconsin, Carol (John) Diaz, Kearney, Mo., Jenny Acosta (Shantel), Gladstone, Mo. Sons: Michael (Velin) Acosta, Turney, Mo. and David Acosta (Duane), Kansas City, Mo.; sister Gerry L. Volkart, Lee’s Summit, brother Harold Truman Volkart, Tipton, Mo. 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Helen’s main role in life was devoted to raising her seven children to be loving, compassionate, patient, and faithful Christian, for she was the role model for them. She was cheerful and kind with a beautiful smile for everyone. Helen loved each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely and prayed that they would follow on the Christian path she had walked her entire life. She will be missed, but loved by all her family members and the many friends she made in life.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Langsford Funeral Home, 3rd and Jefferson Street, Lee’s Summit.
Rite of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 29, at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Road, Lee's Summit.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Troost and 69th Street, Kansas City, Mo.
