James Edward Daldrup 1931 – 2016
CAMERON - James Edward Daldrup, 84, passed away on February 18, 2016 at the Cameron VA home.
He was born on May 27, 1931 in Montrose, Missouri to Anthony “Doc” Daldrup and Viola Ann Richter. He graduated from high school in Holden, Missouri. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
James “Dewdrop” was employed by GM for 30 years and retired in 1980.
He married Carey Mae Basco on August 25, 1956 who passed on August 2, 1983. They raised their four children in Cameron, Missouri. His second marriage was to Janet Furby, who passed on December 27, 2013.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1110 and was instrumental in building their parade ship. James was active with his sons in Explorer Scouts/Boy Scouts, where he served as Scout Master, taking pride in his sons achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
James is preceded in death by his parents, first and second wife, brother Gene Daldrup and stepdaughter, Lerah Allen.
Survivors: sons, Scott (Lisa) Daldrup, Myron (Diane) Daldrup, and Bruce (Cheryl) Daldrup; daughter, Mary (Doug) Bembrick, and stepdaughter, Marie Burton; grandchildren, Leslie, Mitchell and Zane Bembrick, Mark, Lauren, Sarah, Sean and Cassandra Daldrup and Stacy Zeigler; step-grandchildren, Kelly, Mitch, Derek and Meredith Burton; siblings, Rosalie Hilke, Audrey (Eddie) Martin and Margaret (Herb) Thomason.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016, St. Munchin Catholic Church. Inurnment at St. Munchin Catholic Cemetery.
Rosary: 6:30 p.m., Monday, February 22, with visitation following at 7-8:30 p.m., Poland Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Munchin Catholic Church and/ or the Missouri Veteran’s Home.
