James T. Crenshaw 1941-2017

Lathrop - James Tiffin Crenshaw, 76, passed away on October 21, 2017.

James was born on September 14, 1941 in Stewartsville, to Joseph Thomas and Doris (Steele) Crenshaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marilyn Crenshaw.

James was a graduate of Osborn High School, earned his Master’s degree in History at Truman State University, Kirksville, and his PHD at Peabody University which is Vanderbilt University.

He taught for St. Joseph Central for 30 years. James was a member of First Baptist Church, Cameron, MSTA, Clinton County Democratic Party, Lathrop Masonic Lodge #506, Ararat Shriners- St. Joseph Moila, and Silver Haired Legislatures of Missouri. He was a past Clinton County Commissioner serving two terms and he was a longtime Mayor of Lathrop.

James enjoyed farming and old tractors, was very avid in politics, and sold real estate and insurance.

Survivors include three daughters, Amy (Darin) Sanders, Smithville, Tiffiny (Corry) Smith, Fairfield, Calif. and Brooke (Nate) Lesan, Olathe, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Aaron and Caleb Sanders, Natalie, Lily and Lindsey Smith, Keira and Kaley Lesan.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2017 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Osborn Evergreen Cemetery, Osborn. Memorial donations to the First Baptist Church, Cameron and/or National Kidney Foundation.
