Jean Louise Assel 1933-2019

Cameron  - Jean Louise Assel, 86, formerly of Hamilton, Lathrop, and Kansas City, Mo., passed away on April 21, 2019 at her home in Cameron. Jean was born on March 3, 1933, near Nettleton, to Troy and Flossie (Warden) Henley. 

Jean graduated from Hamilton High School, Hamilton, and the Chillicothe Business College , Chillicothe. She worked as a secretary and performed clerical work for many local companies including Metropolitan Community College and Acorn Inn, Cameron. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron and the PEO Chapter in Lathrop.

Jean had a great love of music and was the church organist at the Hamilton Baptist Church for many years. She also had a passion for reading.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, William Dean Henley. Survivors: Children – Paula (Tony) Linsman, J. Andrew (Nancy) Assel, Laura Pitman, Julia Thomas, Martin Assel, Sarah (Michael) Duncan, and Phillip (Gina) Assel; Sister – Mary D. (Edward) Phelps; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton. Memorial service to be held 10 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton. Interment at Highland Cemetery, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the Cameron Municipal Band summer evening performances/McCorkle Park in downtown Cameron for the purchase of a bench in Jean’s honor and memory. www.bramfuneralservices.com
