John George Mitchell 1953 – 2015

CAMERON - Born August 10, 1953 John “Mitch” went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2015 at the age of 62.

Mitch was born in Sterling, Colorado but called Cameron, Missouri home. He was an avid hunter and traveled to many places building a trophy collection admired by many friends and family. He graduated from Cameron High School then joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1971. He met his wife, Judy, who was serving in the U.S. Navy at Norfolk, Virginia at the time. He followed Judy taking on many jobs until she retired from the Navy. His favorite job was when he graduated from the Dallas Police Academy in 1994 and completed 20 years when he retired in August 2014. He worked in the Southeast Division, Gang Unit, Communications and Property Room.

Mitch is survived by his wife, Judy, DeSoto, Texas; mother, Beverly Hicks (Kenneth), Branson, Missouri; sister, Linda Watkins (Gary), Laguna Beach, California; brother, Forrest Mitchell, Omaha, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by stepfather, Harold Mitchell, Samuel “Peanut” Bray and Pauline Bray who he referred to as “Ma and Pa” Bray, best friend Dennis Bray, Bill and Eilene Miller, who he also referred to as “Ma and Pa Miller”.

Memorial service on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church, 2550 NE Gospel Road, Weatherby, Missouri. Pastor Mike Wolf officiating.
