Lillian Bottorff 1919-2016
Maysville.....Lillian Gertrude Bottorff, 96, died April 9, 2016, at a healthcare facility in Cameron, Missouri. Born September 3, 1919, in a farmhouse southeast of Amity, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond C. and Ethel M. (Akey) Trout.
Lillian attended the Fairview one-room school in DeKalb County, MO, and Bliss and Blair schools in St. Joseph, MO. She graduated from Amity High School in 1939. She was employed as secretary at the Selective Service Board of DeKalb County.
She married Harold Bottorff in the Amity United Methodist Church November 22, 1959. The couple farmed the family's Century Farm northeast of Maysville until they retired and moved to Cameron, MO. Lillian was an active member of the Hopewell Baptist Church near Weatherby. She enjoyed family events with her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Shirley Trout, sister-in-law, Margaret Trout, nephew Jim Trout, and brother-in-law, Carl Bottorff.
Lillian is survived by her brother, Don Trout (Sue), St. Joseph; nephew Robert Trout (Marie), Grain Valley, MO; nieces, Staci Farrell, GrainValley, and Cristie Goforth (Todd), Overland Park, Kansas; grandnephew Brodie Goforth and grandniece Lexie Goforth, Overland Park; sisters-in law Sarah Mae Swanson (Arlan), Council Grove, Kansas, and Iva Lee Jameson, Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law, Ivan Bottorff (Marlene), Joplin, MO, several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, cousins Emily and Shelley Utterback, Cameron; and special friend, Maxine Whitt.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville with visitation one hour prior to service time and burial following in Hopewell Cemetery.
Lillian was a gracious, loving, gentle soul, well-loved by all who knew her. She will be missed.
