Martin King Walker 1948 – 2018

Cameron - Martin King Walker, 69, passed on April 1, 2018, at his home.  Martin and his wife moved to Cameron in 1983 after living eleven years in St. Joseph.

 

Martin was born on December 20, 1948, in Gallatin, to Ted and Dessie Mae (Maddox) Walker.  He was a 1967 graduate of the Gallatin High School, and then attended Northwest Missouri State University for two years and attended Guard Accounting School.  He then completed Journeyman training in St. Joseph for the Carpenter’s Union Local #110.  He owned and operated Walker Services from 1991-2005 as well as working during that same time for twenty plus years as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Cameron.  He retired five years ago.

 

Martin was a member of the Cameron First Christian Church, the Carpenter’s Union Local #110, and a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Union.  He also enjoyed bowling.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billie and Bobbie Walker; and a nephew, Darrell Walker.

 

Martin married Martha Morgan on April 11, 1970, at the Nettleton Community Church, east of Hamilton.  She survives of the home.

 

Additional survivors include son, Jack (Kristie) Walker, Cameron; daughters, Jill (Kevin) Gilreath, Gallatin and Dr. Jennifer L. Walker, Ames, Iowa; four grandchildren, Lukas Daniels, William Daniels, Lane Walker, and Adlei Walker; three nieces, Pam, Patty and Peggy; three nephews, Mike, Nick and Dorn Walker; sister-in-law, Karen Walker; and his close friends, C. David Taylor and Bill Brownlee, both of Cameron.

 

Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton, Mo.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton.

 

Memorial Pond-Side Service:  5 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at the Martin and Martha Walker family farm.
