Melvin E. Taylor 1927 - 2015

CAMERON - Melvin E. Taylor, 88, of Cameron, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

Melvin was born January 3, 1927 to Morris B. and Sadie B. (Whitaker) Taylor at the Taylor Homestead in Cameron, Missouri. He was a graduate of Cameron High School. He served in the United States Army from 1945 until 1947; where he was a Recon Car Crewman, M-1 Rifle Sharpshooter and a Military Police Officer guarding trains. Melvin enjoyed helping others and was always eager to lend a hand. He loved square dancing, hunting, fishing, farming and raising his cattle and horses.

He married Bernadine Carter on September 18, 1953 at the Baptist Church in Cameron, Missouri. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents, infant son, two brothers, John and Kenneth Taylor.

Survivors include one daughter, Vicki Taylor of the home; sister, Shirley (Gaylen) Campbell, Cumberland, Iowa; two brothers, Bob and Charles (Vernell) Taylor, both of Cameron, Missouri.

Melvin has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

Memorial Services 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Cameron; with inurnment to follow at McDaniel Cemetery, Cameron, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church of Cameron, Missouri.
