NEAL DANIEL COLBY, SR 1915 - 2018
Neal Daniel Colby, Sr. 103 yrs. old said his final good byes to his beloved family as he entered the “Fairway to Heaven,” on Tuesday October 9, 2018 in Cameron, Missouri at 8: 37 am. A Celebration of Neal Colby’s life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Cameron, Mo. w/the Rev. Mark Mc Bee officiating. Neal Daniel Colby Sr. was born June 12, 1915 in Mason City, Iowa to his parents William Martin Colby and Mary Agnes (Boyle) Colby who had eight children. Neal’s father was the, founders of the COLBY MOTOR COMPANY, presently on display at the “Kinney Pioneer Museum” in Mason City. Neal life consisted of many chapters. He attended St. Louis University where he met and married “the love of his life,” his wife of 65 year, Mary Charlotte Allen-Colby. They had four children: Neal Daniel, Jr., Carol Lee, Charlotte Allen, and Joan Marie Colby. He had active careers in both golfing and in the oil business representing: Garvey Oil in Kansas and Schlensker Oil in Oklahoma. As a young man Neal was a gifted athletic, attending Iowa Wesleyan University on a football scholarship and winning the Byron Nelson PRO-AM Golf Tournament in Dallas, Texas in 1956. Neal an extremely personable and sociable person was active in numerous affiliates, clubs and organizations. He was a member of the: The American Legion, The Petroleum Club; Twin Hills Golf and Country Club, a devote member of the Catholic Church and a dedicated member of the 3rd order of St. Francis of Assis. Neal and Mary had nine grandchildren: Shawn, Brian, and Kevin Colby; Michael and Christopher Papin, James and Jennifer Venters; Christina and Mary Williams, and; nine great grandchildren: Sophia and Daniel; Trip, Kai and Maila; Brayson, Meg, and Leah and finally another Sophia, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other family members, friends, and Veteran companions who the family is most grateful for their kindness to Neal.Neal was preceded in death by his parents William Martin and Mary Agnes Boyle/Colby; his five “admired” brothers and two sisters: Colburn, David, William (Bill), Joseph (Joe), and France Colby, and Marjorie (Madge) Colby-Delong, Mary Colby-O’Leary; and, his beloved wife, Mary Charlotte-Allen Colby, his loving daughter Charlotte Allen Colby/Venters and one grandson James Michael Venters, Jr.Neal Colby Daniel, Sr’s final interment will be alongside his dear wife “Mary Charlotte” in Oklahoma City, OK at The Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
