Rosa Lea Peterson 1932-2018
Cameron - Rosa Lea Peterson, 86, Cameron passed away on April 21, 2018 at her home.
Rosa Lea was born on February 5, 1932 in Ridgeway, to Harley and Ruby (Billups) Eivins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, James Johnson and John “Pete” Peterson, Jr.; daughter, Donna Johnson; grandson, James Bradley McQueen; brother, Garry D. Eivins.
Rosa Lea was a 1950 graduate of Mt. Moriah and earned her Bachelor of Science from Northwest Missouri State University.
She taught English, Journalism and the Yearbook Staff Sponsor at Cameron High School, before retiring. After retirement, she worked at the Cameron Library.
Rosa Lea was a member of the Junior Tri Arts, hospice volunteer for Comfort Care Hospice and ministered to several clubs, nursing homes and the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cameron.
Survivors include daughter, Debbie (Bill) Whiteaker, Cameron; son, Jeff Johnson, Cameron; daughter, April (Jesse) DeGerald, Kansas City; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Koechner, Shane (Angie) McQueen, Tom Whiteaker, Sam Whiteaker and Leah Whiteaker; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Annita (Don) Robinson, Blythedale; five brothers, Larry (Jean) Eivins, Blythedale, J.O. Eivins, Ridgeway, Terry (Wilma) Eivins, Eolia, Pete (Cindy) Eivins, Hamilton, and Pat (Paula) Eivins, Cameron.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2018 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Visitation is from 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial: Wamsley Cemetery, Cameron, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations to Comfort Care Hospice, Cameron.
