Virginia Irene Taylor Snook

Highland, KS – Virginia Irene Taylor Snook, of Highland formerly of Cameron, died Friday December 20, 2019, at a Highland care facility. She was 83.

After going to Hawaii with a teacher’s group for six week vacation and attended Hawaii University where she made many friends.  Virginia returned home and relocated to Cameron, MO teaching grades 5, 6 for 32 years for a total of 44 years. She held grade chairperson for many years, CTA secretary, vice president & president, started science & math clubs, helped with spelling bee.  She retired in 2000.

White teaching at Cameron, she was introduced to a gentleman, Billy Jay Snook of Corydon, IA, that later became her husband.  They were married December 31, 1981, at the Cameron Community Christian Church, which is where they had their first date.  They lived on a farm at Corydon.  While teaching, Virginia acquired man hours from Peru where she took night classes and summer school receiving her BS in elementary education.  She also took classes from UMKC, Emporia State Teachers College and received the Kansas State Teachers Certificate, and Missouri lifetime teacher’s certificate.   He died October 2015.
