CHS girls tennis ready for state

The Cameron girl’s tennis doubles team of Morgan Choate and Taylor Richardson will be in Springfield for the 41st MSHSAA Girl’s Tennis Championships Friday and Saturday.

The Class 1 singles and doubles competition gets underway at 10:15 a.m. on Friday at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

Choate and Richardson will face Kiki Peters and Maddy Duncan of John Burroughs School in St. Louis in their opening match.

The doubles first round, consolation, quarterfinal and consolation quarterfinal matches are scheduled to be played on Friday.

The semifinals and consolation semifinals will be played Saturday followed by the seventh place, fifth place, third place and championship matches.

16 doubles teams qualified for the state tournament.

Choate and Richardson won the District 16 title and then qualified for state when they defeated Madeline Johannes and Megan McDonald of St. Pius X, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in the sectional in St. Joseph.
