CHS Golfers qualify for sectionals

Three Cameron High School varsity golfers have qualified for sectionals, which will be played on Monday, May 9 at Liberty Hills Golf Course.

To qualify for sectionals, the golfers had to place in the top 15 individuals and shoot below the 90 stroke cut line at the 2016 Class 3 District 8 Championship Tournament at Shiloh Springs Golf Course on May, 2. From left: Sophomore Spencer Teel tied the cut line with 90 strokes, Sophomore Sam Morrison shot an 86, and Junior Chase Foreman tied for seventh place with an 80.

To qualify for state, the golfers must finish in the top 12 individuals this Monday. The state championship will be held in Springfield on May 16 and 17.

“It was nice to get three boys through.” Head Coach Kevin Nichols said. “We were hoping to get all five through, but we are very happy. We hope to take all three to state.”
