Soccer Dragons win first match of season

The Cameron Dragons notched their first win of the soccer season Monday with a 3-1 win over Smithton at the Oak Grove tournament.

CHS took the lead in the first half when Andrew Pratt scored off a corner kick. With less than 20 seconds remaining in the half, Smithton scored to tie the match.

Pratt scored again early in the second half to give the Dragons the lead and Seth Morrison found the back of the net 10 minutes later to complete the scoring. Morrison and Trent Naylor each had an assist.

John Rupert and Brandon Griesinger played in goal and made a combined eight saves.

Benton takes tennis match

The Cameron Lady Dragons tennis team lost a home match to Benton, 5-4, at the Recreation Park courts Monday.

Morgan Choate won at number one singles and teamed with Taylor Richardson to win number one doubles. Nicole Gitthens won her match at number four singles and teamed with Kelly Baker to win number two doubles.
