District basketball tournament schedule set

The Cameron boys and girls basketball teams will travel to Gower for the Class 3 District 16 tournament next week.

The Dragons were seeded sixth in the nine-team field and will take on third seed St. Pius X on Feb. 23. Game time is 9 p.m. at East Buchanan High School. The winner of the game between the Dragons and the Warriors will face the winner of the game between East Buchanan and Plattsburg in the semifinal on Feb. 25. The first game of the boy’s tournament will be Feb. 20 when Alta Vista goes against Cristo Rey. The winner will then meet top-seed Maryville on Feb. 23. The other first round matchup is Bishop LeBlond against Lathrop.

The boy’s championship game is Feb. 27 at 2:30 p.m.

The Lady Dragons are seeded eighth out of the nine teams and will play ninth seed Alta Vista on Feb. 20 at 12 p.m. at East Buchanan. The winner advances to a Feb. 22 contest against top-seed St. Pius X with a start time of 4:30 p.m. Other first round contests are East Buchanan versus Maryville, Lathrop against Cristo Rey and Bishop LeBlond taking on Plattsburg.

The girl’s championship game is Feb. 27 at 1 p.m.
