Dragons, Lady Dragons hit PRs at Ray-Pec Invite

The Cameron High School Dragon and Lady Dragon cross country teams continue returned from the Raymore-Peculiar Invitational with a few medal following a strong performance last Saturday.

With multiple runners hitting personal records, Cameron coach Kurt Dickkut likes what he has seen so far and looks forward to more PRs in the coming month. 

“All of our athletes cut time from St. Mary’s the week before, so that was good to see,” Dickkut said. “We came out of the meet with five medalists. Payton Dickkut and Haley Wilson in the Varsity Girls, Tyler Husch for the Varsity guys along with Gavin Pinkston and Alexander Kropp for our JV guys. Caleb Husch also PR’d personally, that is always good to see this early in the year.”

Senior Tyler Husch finished first among Cameron runners and 11th overall with a time of 19:25 - shaving more than a minute off his time at the St. Mary’s Invitational. Junior Jacob Bryant also shaved a minute off his previous competition time with 20:59 for 24th overall, followed by senior Caden Hanrahan, who Dickkut promoted to varsity this week, with a time of 22:19 for 35th. Sophomore Caleb Husch took 38th (22:28), sophomore Deacon Bell took 40th (23:08) junior Kaden Turner took 46th (24:41) and senior Jospeh Ramey took 49th (26:31). 

In junior varsity action Gavin Pinkston finished third (24:32) and junior Alexander Kopp took fourth (25:53).

As for the Lady Dragons, senior Payton Dickkut finished first among Cameron runners after shaving nearly 2 minutes off her previous time - dropping form 26:21 to 24:34. Senior Haley Wilson also shaved more than a minute off her previous time after finishing 14th with a time of 24:54 - down from 26:21. Natalie Huff finished 33rd with a 29:34 finish - down from 31:24.

The Dragons and Lady Dragons will return to action this Saturday when they head on the road for the Odessa High School Invitational.
