Soccer season ends with district loss

The 2015 season came to a close for the Cameron soccer team following a 3-1 loss to Maryville in the Class 2 District 16 tournament at Dave Goodwin Field Wednesday evening.

After a scoreless first half, the Hounds took the lead when Zach Brod scored on a penalty kick with 33:25 left to play. Chance Hermelink scored with 23:44 to go and then Joseph Suchan made it 3-0 with 17:30 remaining in the match. Andrew Pratt scored the Dragons goal on a penalty kick with 1:39 left to play.

The Dragons finish the season with a 4-12 record. Pratt led the team in goals scored with 16.

Seniors Blake Gardner, Zach Moore, Trent Naylor, Andrew Pratt, Ty Pratt, John Rupert, Josh Schmitz and Tanner Slover were honored before the match along with the soccer managers, Sahara Huffman, Katlynn Hughes, and Danyelle Sutton.

Chillicothe defeated Savannah, 2-1, in the other district match Wednesday night, sending the Hornets into the district final against Maryville this Saturday in Cameron.
