Track team host first home meet

 

 

Cameron High School’s boys and girls track teams held their first home meet on Tuesday, April 12, hosting the 2016 Crossroads Relays at Dave Goodwin Field.

The Dragons placed fourth overall, with a score of 83, while the Lady Dragons placed second, scoring 117.

The team won three track events. Junior Hannah Robinson placed first in the Women’s 800m Run with a time of 2:38.24, Senior Morgan Choate placed first in the Women’s 100m Hurdles with a time of 16.46,  and a the Cameron Women’s 4 x 100 Relay team finished first with a time of 4:38.18.

In other track results, Morgan Choate placed third in the Women’s 100m Dash, with a time of 13.46. Sophomore Bianca Lopez placed fourth in the Women’s 100m Dash with a time of 13.67. Freshman Khayla Hollingsworth placed second in the Women’s 200m Dash with a time of 28.84, and second in the Women’s 400m Dash with a time of 1:05.34. Morgan Choate placed third in the Women’s 200m Dash with a time of 28.93. Senior Devin France placed fourth in the Men’s 200m Dash with a time of 24.24. Sophomore Josh Stevenson placed sixth in the Men’s 400m Dash with a time of 56.49. Sophomore Tristan Michaelis placed second in the Men’s 800m Run with a time with a time of 2:14.78, and third in the Men’s 1600m Run with a time of 5:07.71. Freshman Nicole Jackson placed second in the Women’s 1600m Run with a time of 5:49.68, and second in the Women’s 3200m Run with a time of 13:35.71. Hannah Robinson placed third in the Women’s 1600m Run with a time of 5:49.68. Sophomore Jacob Barbee placed sixth in the Men’s 1600m Run with a time of 5:15.71, and second in the Men’s 3200m Run with a time of 11:28.11. Senior Nathan Jackson placed third in the Men’s 3200m Run with a time of 11:41.08. Freshman Kenzie Terhune placed second in the Women’s 300m Hurdles with a time of 53.71.

Six relay teams also earned placement. The Men’s 4 x 100m Relay team placed fifth with a time of 52.21. The Men’s 4 x 200m Relay team placed third with a time of 1:42.52. The Men’s 4 x 400m Relay team placed fourth with a time of 3:51, and the Men’s 4 x 800m Relay team placed second with a time of 8:57.58. The Women’s 4 x 100m Relay team placed third with a time of 54.38, and the Women’s 4 x 200m Relay team placed fourth with a time of 2:15.87.

Levi Marlay succeeded in acquiring the team’s only field event win, placing first in the Men’s Shot Put event with a distance of 48’ 2”.

In other field results, Kenzie Terhune placed second in the Women’s High Jump with a distance of 4’4”, and fourth in the Women’s Triple Jump with a distance of 28’ 8”. Junior Joe Zinkand placed third in the Men’s Pole Vault with a distance of 11’ 3”. Senior Nick Zittritsch placed fifth in the Men’s Long Jump with a distance of 17’ 7”. Freshman Kyler Stone placed sixth in the Men’s Triple Jump with a distance of 33’ 3.5”. Levi Marlay placed fifth in the Men’s Discus Throw with a distance of 110’ 7”. Freshman Jessica Pendleton placed sixth in the Women’s Javelin Throw with a distance of 58’, and Junior Matthew Simmons placed second in the Men’s Javelin Throw with a distance of 122’ 5”.

The team also hosted the 2016 Cameron Relays on Tuesday, April 19 at Dave Goodwin Field.
