White resigns as CHS football coach

After four seasons as head coach of the Cameron football program, Jeff White has resigned from the position.

White submitted his resignation to the board of education, which was accepted at their monthly meeting Nov. 16.

White compiled a record of 11-32 as head coach of the Dragons with a 5-23 record against MEC opponents.

After a 2-9 mark his first season, the Dragons went 8-4 in 2013 and 4-3 in the MEC. CHS was 0-10 in 2014 and 1-9 this past season.

White had served as assistant football coach at Cameron in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2011. In addition to his four years at Cameron, he served as an assistant coach at Richmond for one year and was head coach at Gallatin from 2008 to 2010, compiling a record of 9-20 at the Grand River Conference school.

Cameron becomes the second MEC school that will be searching for a new football coach for next season. At Savannah, Chad Smith’s contract for 2016 was not renewed by the school board during their Nov. 10 meeting. Smith was 27-15 in his four seasons as coach of the Savages.
